SaferRwanda believes in equality before the law, and it works to establish equality and equity between women and men both in society at large and within the organization. It promotes awareness on gender equality through capacity building to right holders (vulnerable women and girls), while engaging men to recognize and create a space for women’s rights.

Gender equality and women empowerment

In partnership with Care international Rwanda, SaferRwanda implemented a project entitled Gender Equality and Women Empowerment. The project aimed at building women’s capacities and self-esteem, transforming negative social and cultural norms and values underlying women’s rights violations and facilitating a more effective implementation of Rwanda’s gender-supportive legal framework. The project further engaged women in Climate vulnerability and capacity assessment (CVCA) as key activity in climate change adaptation and mitigation since Women are affected by climate Change effects

Women’s Economic Empowerment through Scaling up solar electrification of Kamugeni Village by semi-literate’s rural grandmothers.

With support from Norwegian Church Aid , UNDP/SGP National Commission For UNESCO , SaferRwanda trained rural women in solar energy engineering , installation, repair and maintenance. With the knowledge obatianed from the training the women managed to install solar energy in 110 houses of Bugesera district and 150 houses in Musanze district.
